Nicor Gas

The Village of Algonquin provides natural gas through Nicor Gas.

The total monthly natural gas expenditure will consist of (2) main components: Commodity Cost and Delivery Charges.

The Commodity Cost is the cost for the natural gas itself. With natural gas being an openly traded commodity on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) it is impossible to predict future pricing. Typically, large commercial and industrial customers will purchase the commodity through a third party broker.

The Delivery Charges are those paid to Nicor Gas for the delivery of the natural gas. Nicor Gas offers a variety of delivery rates for our commercial and industrial customers. These can be found at www.nicorgas.com. A typical commercial / industrial delivery rate will be in the range of $0.06 - $0.07 per therm. Actual cost will depend on the specific Nicor Gas rate, customer load profiles, etc.
